Fraudulent Chargeback Policy:

  • If you place a chargeback with your credit card company (on purpose or by mistake) for an order that you placed and received, you may be responsible for fees incurred upon reversal of the chargeback by our merchant provider. NO EXCEPTIONS! - If you do not remember making the purchase - call the number on your statement next to the charge BEFORE calling your bank!

Fraudulent Charges - Stolen Credit Card Purchases:

  • We log IP strings on all orders - any orders coming back as a chargeback due to fraudulent activities will be diligently pursued through your local jurisdiction for prosecution to the fullest extent of the law! Remember to double check your credit card number before submitting the order, if you submit the wrong credit card number it may come back as a stolen card!

All checks are verified through Check Pro, $30.00 minimum service charge will be added to all returned checks. This establishment will seek civil damages pursuant to Iowa Code Section 554.3513 upon dishonor of any check.

Shipping and Sales Tax

Shipping Information

Please proceed to the checkout page and shipping will be calculated on actual Fedex rates. You are not obliged to complete your order until you approve shipping charges.

Our shipping costs are based on the approximate shipping weight of your order - not on price points. Our shipping and handling rates are intended to compensate our company for processing your order, handling and packing the products you purchase and delivering them to you. The cost of shipping will vary based on what is ordered, the destination and the shipping method. If there is a problem with the shipping of your order after it's left our possession, you will have to take that up with the shipping company. If you pay for Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air or 3 Day Select and the package doesn't arrive on time, you will need to make a claim with UPS to have your shipping costs refunded.

Continental U.S. orders will be shipped via the shipping company you choose on checkout. All orders are processed and shipped in the order they are received.

Custom Orders - Because the candles, embeds, soaps, linen sprays and molds that we produce are custom-made, we must receive a financial commitment before we can begin work on your order.
We will accept a mailed personal or organizational check, money orders, credit/debit card (Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express). We do not ship C.O.D. Failure to pay for your order in a timely manner may push back the delivery date of your order or necessitate rush charges to meet your delivery date. Brighter Scents is not responsible for any delay in order delivery or any rush charges incurred due to a delay in receiving payment. Please allow 7 to 10 business days for orders to be shipped that contain custom products. Custom orders that have more than one dozen of a single item will require a longer lead time, please allow 15 to 30 business days, this will be determined by glassware availability for candle orders.



You will receive an email notification when your order ships along with a shipment tracking number.

At this time we are unable to accept foreign orders on the website, please email or call for international orders.

We are required to charge sales tax on all orders shipped to addresses in Iowa, US only. Don't worry! When you check out, you will be able to see your shipping charges BEFORE you need to enter your payment information. No tax will be charged on orders shipped outside the state of Iowa, US.

If for some reason you need your shipping address changed After your order has been shipped, your credit card will be charged a $8.00 address change fee that we incur from UPS.

Return Policy

Once an order is submitted it can not be changed, edited or cancelled.



If you are using a discount code, you must enter it at the time the order is placed in the coupon code box. We can not adjust totals after the order is submitted if paid with Paypal. If you forget to use the code when paying with a credit card please contact us within 1 hour of placing the order and we can adjust the total before charging your credit card. All Paypal transactions will receive an in store credit if the code is not used at the time the order is placed as Paypal payments are automatically transferred when the order is submitted.



If you have placed an order and you need to cancel it, we will do our best to accommodate your request. Notifying us that an order needs cancelling is not a guarantee that we will be able to retrieve the order if it has already been processed. It is best if you can email us detailing the transaction (include your name, company name, address, and order number) and we will confirm if we are able to cancel your order. If we are not able to cancel your order and it does ship, you can refuse the package at time of delivery. If you refuse the package, you will still be responsible for the shipping charges both directions on that order, and store credit less the 20% restocking fee will be issued for the merchandise when it is returned to us.

We do not accept returns on products without prior approval. Please call for approval, we do not accept returns through email. Note: We cannot accept returns on fragrances, liquid dyes, bath and body products or waxes due to the nature of the product. We also cannot accept returns on candles and embeds due to the fact that they are custom made for each order.

If you need to cancel an order it needs to be done by telephone and you will receive a cancellation confirmation number. Please do not email changes or cancellations of orders as we can not guarantee that it will be received before the order is processed and packaged. If an order has already shipped we can not cancel or make changes to your order.

We are not responsible for any damage to the waxes or embeds due to use of other products not sold by us. We are not responsible for damage due to misuse of our products. If you have questions on how to use our products please call or email.

If you are unsatisfied with any of our products or if there are any discrepancies or damages to your order that you receive please notify us immediately by telephone. We can not file claims on missing or damaged packages by email.

All returns that are approved must be returned within 15 days of purchase. All returned items will be credited at the original purchase price, plus applicable sales tax as an in store credit. Shipping and handling charges will not be refunded. If an order is refused upon delivery you will be responsible for shipping charges, return shipping charges and all restocking fees.

When should I expect delivery?

We require time to process and ship your order. All orders are shipped in the order that they are received. After the product leaves the shop, standard shipping times apply. You will receive an email with your shipment tracking number as soon as it is on the way. For UPS ground shipping, depending on your location and the volume being handled by UPS at the time, transit time is from 1-5 business days within the USA.

How safe is my credit card information?

When you buy from www.brighterscents.com, your credit card purchase is processed in real time through the Paymentech, by secure eCommerce servers run by Yahoo.com. Then your order is encrypted with PGP before being sent to BrighterScents.com. Your card couldn't be safer!

What if my credit card is declined?

We are not responsible for delays in processing orders due to declined credit card payments.  If your credit card is declined, we will try to contact you to notify you about the problem with the card as soon as possible.

Occasionally we may have errors in the pricing of certain products. If an order is placed for a product with an error in the price, we reserve the right to cancel the order, or adjust the pricing as we see fit. We will notify the customer of this error and order cancellation and/or price adjustment ASAP.
